Lesson's from the Eye.

 
Here are some things I learned this week about the eye.
Did you know that a 4 year old boy can get something in his eye while standing alone by a door?
Did you know that when the 4 year old gets something in his eye, and is trying to get it out, he can rub it so much that it will cause a "road rash" on his eye?
Did you know that this same "road rash" is usually caused when a stick or pen/pencil pokes the eye?
Did you know that we still don't know what got in his eye?
Did you know that there are layers of the eye?
Did you know that by your 4 year old trying to get something out of his eye, and rubbing it, that he can cause 1/3 of the top layer of his eye to have "road rash"?
Did you know that the eye could even get "road rash?"
Did you know that Jackson has a great Daddy who left work to come and take him to the doctor because it is much easier to be brave when Daddy is with you?
Did you know they have a contact lense that works like a band-aid?
Did you also know that even though the contact lense works WONDERFUL, it can still fold in half and get caught up in her your son's eyelid- causing him more discomfort?
Did you know that when you hurt your eye, that you get to go to the eye doctor 3 DAYS IN A ROW, and once the following week!?!?
Did you know that we get to put one set of drops in Jackson's eye 4 times a day for 3 to 4 weeks!?!?
Did you also know that we get to put anti-biotic drops in Jackson's eyes 3 times a day for 2-3 more days?
Did you also know that we get to put a lubricant in his eyelid at night to keep his eye moist, and we get to clean the goop out in the morning?
Did you know that I'm afraid I might get a little confused about which drops & when?
Did you know that it is possible to take a little "blind" boy, a baby, & a 2 year old to the doctor?
Did you also know that the 3 kids can actually be very well behaved at the doctors?
Do you know how funny it is to watch your "blind" boy hold your hand (as you guide him up the steps) and try to climb invisible steps? (Yep, still makes me smile) :)
Did you know that I have the bravest little kid, and that he didn't cry once while the doctors looked at his eye, put drops in, or when they put the lense in and took it out?
Did you know there are worse things then this, and this seems so small compared to them?
Do you know how cute it is to look in the rear view mirror on the way home, and see 2 of your kids moving to the music while wearing their cool new shades from the doctor?

Morgan's 6th Birthday Party

 
 
We decided to have a suprise party for Morgan this year for her birthday. Her friends were so good about keeping it a secret, especially her best friend Laryn from school. Morgan said to her during the party, "So, that's why you wouldn't play with me!" Laryn was afraid of spoiling the surprise, so she tried to distance herself. :) Brian took Jackson (who didn't know there was a party because he can't keep a secret) & Morgan out on a "Daddy date" to feed the ducks. They had so much fun, but had to come home for more bread. Morgan was so surprised, and had a huge grin on her face the whole time. Her friends were so sweet to come & I think they all had a good time. Morgan was happy to see both Grandma's there, and Aunt Kaylie, which was a huge help! We painted fingernails purple & pink with glitter, decorated cupcakes, decorated pink soap bottles with stickers & played games. Everyone wore pink, and it was such a fun party. I asked Morgan what her favorite part was and she said, " That it was a PINK party!" She threw her hands out and posed really cute when she said "Pink." She is such a cutie, and was so sweet to all of her friends.

Morgan's 6th Birthday

 
 
 
 

We have had a couple of days of celebration for Morgan's 6th birthday. We had a surprise party for her on Friday, she spent the night & went to "Build a Bear" with Grandma Karen on Friday night, Sunday we had cake & icecream, and Tuesday(her actual birthday), Morgan & I went shopping at the mall and met Jackson and Daddy for lunch. I'm a little tired. :)
My little baby is growing up. It's always kind of different on Morgan's birthday because she made me a "Mom" for the first time. Morgan has always been a little sweetheart. She has very tender feelings, and Brian has noticed that if he needs to get mad at her, or tell her something, he has to tell her very gently or her eyes fill up with tears. Morgan is a HUGE help to me! She is so good with Jackson, Hallie, & Landon. Many times I'll come in the room and she'll say, "Oh Mom, Landon was just crying, so I picked him up and changed him." She is such a good big sister, and Hallie always gets so excited to see her when she comes home from school. Morgan has a great imagination. From the time that she was 6 months old, she would just sit, and play with the toys around her and be totally entertained for hours. She does the same thing now. Many times she will come up with a new game for her and Jackson & Hallie to play. Morgan loves to color, and is always coloring rainbows & flowers. One of my favorite pictures she colored was of a picture of our family underneath the rainbow with Jesus in a red robe standing on the side of the rainbow, a little above the ground watching over our family. Morgan is very good about sharing things with the family. Any time she gets a treat she tries to share it with each of us. She is very thoughtful & loves taking care of Hallie & Landon. She has even volunteered to babysit them while Daddy & I go out... I wish she could! :) Morgan is a very good student at school. She tries really hard to be kind to others & is often the first one to volunteer to help when someone gets hurt at recess. She has such a sweet spirit, and I feel SO blessed to have her as my oldest, and a part of our family. I love her so much!



I decided to try making Morgan an apron, and to my surprise, it actually turned out really cute! I think I'm going to make one for myself now.
Thanks to our nice neighbors, Morgan got this cute princess bike. Their daughter just had a birthday & got a new bike, so they gave this one to Morgan.
Morgan wanted a Tinkerbell cake, and I think I got a little happy with the neon food coloring box. :) It turned out a lot brighter than I had planned, but she was still happy with it.
Morgan has the best primary teacher! Her teacher, Sis. Tuckett (who works at the bakery) made this BEAUTIFUL Tiana cake. Morgan was so excited & came running outside with it. It was DELICOUS! Morgan & I got our forks ready and dug right in as quickly as we could. :)

My Favorite Family Picture!

 
Why is it, that when we are trying to get a nice family picture, it's hard to get a good one where everyone is looking? However, when we're just trying to take a fun/goofy picture, and we don't care if everyone is smiling, as long as they are looking, we get a really cute picture? Last night we were just playing and the kids were being really cute and fun. I got the camera and had them all lay down, positioned the camera for Brian, and quickly laid down in my place. This was the end result. It is now one of my favorite family pictures, and is a great memory of a fun day with our kids.

Today, it is raining. I don't mind too much because my kitchen floor will actually stay clean for a couple of hours after I sweep it. So, since the kids can't go outside, they decided to do the next best thing... Mom's Hair! Morgan had this great idea to do my hair. She had me come & sit in the hair place so she could do my hair with her assistant "Jackson Matron." After she started brushing my hair I said to her, "Morgan, you need to brush softer, that's hurting my head." She quickly replied, "Well, sorry Mom, but this is how you brush my hair!" Oh... ouch! I guess I should brush softer next time. :) Morgan & Jackson spent about 45 minutes styling my hair. They added lots of clips & bows, and Morgan even made me feel like Marsha Brady by brushing it 100 times. She kept saying, "Mom! Your hair is so soft, this is how I want my hair. I want my hair really soft!" So, now I know... I need to brush Morgan's hair "really soft" so it won't hurt her head, and brush it 100 times so it feels and looks really soft too. She kept putting her arm around me, and was so happy with the end result. Definatly a fun way to spend a rainy day.

Morgan decided to take pictures today of the kids. She was so cute trying to pose them. She told Jackson to sit, while holding Landon, and then she said to Hallie, "Come here Hallie, come and sit right here next to Jackson, and put your arm around him & give him a hug." Hallie & Jackson both listened to their photographer and they got this cute picture.
Then Jackson got to be the photographer. They are such cute kids.

Brian took this picture of Hallie the other night. You can't help but love this girl... terrible 2's and all. :)
