First Week of 2nd Grade

Morgan wanted to try on all of her clothes

the night before for a fashion show.

Hallie didn't want to try on her new clothes

until she saw how cute Morgan looked, then

we couldn't take the clothes off of her.

Jackson wanted to model his new school

clothes too, and before we knew it,

we had a little gangsta on our hands.

I probably shouldn't post some of Jackson's

pictures on here because his hands are

making so many different signs & I don't

want to offend anyone.

Where he got it, I have NO idea!

Yeah, Jackson's clothes ended up being a

little too big for him. Maybe that's why

the crazy Kung Fu kid came from out of him.

Hallie was excited for Morgan to

go to school. Hallie put on the same

outfit as soon as she woke up.

Morgan on her first day of 2nd grade!

I remember Morgan's first day in Kindergarten &

she was in tears because she didn't want me to leave.

Here she was though, on the first day of 2nd grade

ready to start in a different place with no tears!

She has loved her first week of school. I think

because there hasn't been any homework yet.

However, we have heard about a ghost, or 2 or 3

ghosts that were at her school. I asked her if

she and her friends actually saw the ghost in the bathroom

and she said, "A girl saw a person in the corner

by the ceiling with a white sheet on it & she came

and told me and my friends."

My response, "Morgan, if that same girl came

and told you it was raining chocolate syrup

outside, would you believe her?"

I could see the light clicking in her head- "No!"

and then "Oh"

Yeah maybe we shouldn't believe that girl.

There hasn't been any more mention of ghosts. :)

Here we go 2nd grade!

A Fun Summer Day

We have been so busy this summer, that we haven't had much time to just play. So, one day, when things were finally slow, we played.First we went to visit Grandpa & Grandma Nuttall. Jackson loved playing a game with Grandpa where they were shooting each other with rubber darts. Jackson definitely made Grandpa & Grandma smile with his rules for the game.

Then we went to the BYU Bean Museum to look at all the animals. The kids loved it! Morgan felt bad she didn't bring a notebook so she could write about & draw all the animals they were looking at. So we took pictures instead.


You can tell who my calm kids are, and which kids have lots of energy. I think they resemble the animals they are standing next to very well. :)

After the Bean Museum we went and got ice cream cones which was Landon's favorite part. I think we need to have more days like this, especially when the kids say, as we're driving home, "Mom! You're the best Mom ever!"

Summer Mornings

I love not being rushed to get the kids out the door on summer mornings. I love taking it easy & just playing or watching Curious George. On this morning, Landon was being so funny so we took lots of pictures of him & Morgan posing. Kids make the morning fun, until they say, "I want to eat!!!" Then its time to get back to work being a Mom.

 

 

 

 

The Battle of Optimus Prime & The Cowboys & Indians

Grandpa & Grandma Smith gave Jackson an Indian & Cowboy set for Jackson's birthday. Right away, Jackson & Morgan set up the cowboys and indians to get ready for a battle with Optimus Prime. They played for hours! The cowboys and indians couldn't even fight each other because they were so busy getting ready for Optimus Prime- the huge creature coming to destroy them.
I tried playing a couple of times, but got bored quickly- why is that? I could play for hours as a kid & have such a hard time sitting and playing now. While I was playing though, Optimus Prime killed all my men within 10 minutes of playing. We had to make a couple of new rules- at least 2 of my men had to stay alive. I love the imagination of a 6 & 7 year old. And, I love it when they play so well together.

 

 

 

Jackson's Donut Cake

This year when I asked Jackson what cake he wanted he said, "A donut cake!"
I have never seen a donut cake, but figured it would be really easy making because there would be do baking involved. I was right! Jackson loved his donut cake & everyone else did too. We had my parents & sisters come over to celebrate. I love being able to have grandparents close for birthdays.

This is Jackson's other family. They have seriously adopted him as one of their own. Jackson stayed with them when we went to California & when we went to St. George last fall. Spencer & Garrett are like his older brothers & Donna & Cort treat our kids just like their own.
Donna was my visiting teacher for the first 4 years we lived here, and I have never felt so much love & service from anyone in my life. She is all about serving our family. She is always thinking of us & helping us & being a great friend. Cort is just as kind & has included Brian on his friends annual fishing trip to the Uinta Mountains. We our so blessed to have their friendship.
They came over to spoil Jackson as they usually do. He loves the attention from them & its neat seeing how Jackson & Spencer are like brothers.

 

Jackson was so excited to get a TRANSFORMER! He was playing with it all day, and it continues to be his favorite toy. It's fun watching his imagaination take off when he plays with Optimus Prime. :)

 

My Normal Everyday Kids

Uncle Andrew & Aunt Brianna gave the kids these really cool Halloween teeth- and the best part- they gave our kids around 20 different colored teeth! At first, it was really cool and really fun, and then I started finding teeth all over our house & always in the kids mouth, so they disappeared until Halloween.
Jackson & Hallie turned into little monsters whenever they wore them as you can see from the pictures. :)

4th of July & Swimming Lessons

This year for the 4th of July we went to the parade with our family in the morning after breakfast and then we had both families come over for a bar-b-que. The kids loved running around & doing the sparklers.

 

Morgan & Jackson took swimming lessons for 2 weeks the last part of June & first part of July. They were in a private class for the first time this year & did so well. They loved their teacher Kaylie, & I loved how much one on one time they got with her. They learned so much. Morgan did awesome at floating on her back like a starfish, and can usually float that way for 1 minute or so, Jackson was great & gliding & kicking his legs. :) Landon just loved watching, & Hallie loved being there as long as she could pet the dogs.
